What happens if I run out of credits?
Credits track the real cost of the AI you use, separately from your plan's message limits. In practice, what actually stops a new message is your plan's daily or hourly message limit — not your credit balance, which your organization can choose to enforce but doesn't by default. Hit your message limit and you'll see a prompt explaining what ran out, when it refills, and a way to upgrade. Every existing chat stays fully readable the whole time. Included credits refill each billing cycle; anything you buy on top never expires.
Two different ceilings
Your credit balance
Included credits reset to your plan's allowance every billing cycle. Anything you purchase on top rolls over and never expires — it's tracked separately from the included amount.
Your message limit
This is the ceiling that actually blocks a send. Once you hit it, a prompt tells you exactly what ran out and when it comes back — and every earlier chat stays fully readable in the meantime.
Adding credits without upgrading
Buy a pack any time — no plan change required. The balance updates within seconds of checkout, through the same secure Stripe flow used for subscriptions.

Good to know
- Reading is never blocked. Only sending a new message is gated — every chat you've already had stays open and searchable.
- Two clocks, two refills. Your message limit refills every hour or at midnight UTC. Included credits refill on your monthly billing date. Purchased credits don't follow either clock — they just sit there until used.
- Buying credits is instant. Your balance updates within seconds of Stripe confirming the charge, no waiting period.
- On a team plan? A shared organization balance replaces the purchase button with a request to your billing admin.
Every plan and its credit allowance is published on the pricing page.
